CSS Reboot

Despite us launching our rebooted site a couple of weeks early, we still support the spirit of the CSS Reboot, where nearly a thousand websites decided to re-launch with new, standards-compliant, CSS-based designs.

Yesterday (1st November) was the reboot date and so far around 360 of the sites have updated the reboot site with screenshots of their new creations.

This kind of event is excellent for promoting standards-based design, which in turn aids things like future-proofing and accessibility. Obviously it's not enough to simply use CSS rather than tables or (please no!) frames for layout, thought is required when actually structuring the code and content semantically, as well as adding things like 'skip to content' links at the top of a page to skip the menus.

With the new site up and running, we've got ourselves listed on w3csites; a website providing a gallery of websites that meet the latest w3c (World Wide Web Consortium) standards.

Usability

Why consider usability?

Organisations provide sites for business reasons.

People visit sites for specific purposes.

Usable sites support their visitors by enabling them to perform their goals easily and efficiently, and in so doing deliver the businesses goals.

A usable site drives trust and loyalty in the site and the organisation in general.

A site with bad usability is quickly discarded in favour of the more usable competition.

In short: Usability is absolutely critical to a web site's success.

What is Usability?

There are many different definitions of usability, but basically any product that has good usability exhibits these 6 characteristics:

We offer a complete package of web design services, from initial planning stages to final implementation and testing.

It's not enough to design a visually pleasing site. Today's client demands superior solutions in a forum that allows for the development of extended customer relations - cultivated over a period of time - not a one-time visit.

Search Engines

If your website is not listed within the first few pages on popular search engines when people search for your site, you will most likely be missing out on a very large amount of visitors.

At Net Effects we have the knowledge and expertise and include services such as search engine optimisation to help promote your website to its full potential on popular search engines such as Google.

Pay Per Click Marketing

This unique form of search engine advertising will give your website an excellent opportunity to achieve guaranteed top position on the search results.

Google sells sponsored listings through its advertising program Google AdWords.

Those sponsored listings appear on the top and on the right-hand side of regular search results.
